 Clau Robles-Gil

Clau Robles-Gil is a 20-year-old Mexican-American student at Tufts University majoring in Psychology with Child Development and Studio Art as minors. With regards to art, her predominant media are oil painting and drawing. As an artist, she strives to use her artistic abilities as a means of conveying her fascination with culture, with the mind, and more generally, with psychological phenomena that range from general processes like nostalgia, to mental disorders like anorexia. Apart from aiming to call attention to such mental problems, she aims to challenge traditional conceptions of beauty, in a manner similar to her favorite artist, Jenny Saville. Fundamentally, her ambition is to serve herself from her research experiences and education in Psychology to ultimately better the lives of those who suffer as a result of mental illness, as well as to use art in order to underscore such problems and to encourage the appreciation of humanity and cultural diversity as a whole.
